FORT WORTH, Texas - The Fort Worth City Council has decided to proclaim Oct. 15,
2005, as Grandmaster Won Chik Park Day.
Grandmaster Park, 65, has practiced Taekwondo over the last 50 years and holds
a 9th Dan Kukkiwon certificate.
"Grandmaster Park has taught Taekwondo in the City of Fort World for more
than 25 years, bringing physical fitness, self-confidence, self-defense and
a positive mental attitude to tens of thousands of Fort Worth citizens,” said
the proclamation by the Office of the Mayor of the Fort Worth City.
The proclamation said, “Park has promoted the sport of Taekwondo nationally
and internationally through his leadership and the promotion of the Fort Worth
International Taekwondo Championships for 25 consecutive years.”
Park now serves as president of the U.S. Taekwondo Grandmasters Society. He
has also been the founder and chairman of the Fort Worth International Taekwondo
Championships since 1980.
