General principles for WTF TUEs

Only applications forms sent through ADAMS will be considered. Of course the highest standards of confidentiality as per the World Anti-Doping Code requirements are agree by WTF anti-doping rules. If you do not have an ADAMS account, please contact sport@wtf.org .

As encouraged by the World Anti-Doping Agency, World Archery applies a Mutual Recognition Policy for TUEs issued by National Anti-Doing Organisations (NADOs) under certain conditions.

Below is a summary of athlete’s status with regard to TUE applications in the TUE scope:

Status of the Athlete Criteria Who to apply?
International-Level Athlete In the WTF Registered Testing Pool To WTF – mandatory through ADAMS
Athletes participating at WTF Events - Definition of an International Event (Statutes article 22)

- World Ranking Tournaments
- Mutual recognition policy with NADOs under certain conditions or
- To WTF through ADAMS
Other Athletes Not meeting the above criteria - WTF with the authorization of the Athlete’s Member Association - through ADAMS
or
- NADO

Important note for Member Associations and National Level Athletes wishing to use the WTF TUE Service

All WTF Member Associations are also offered the option to use this service as well for their National TUEs (athletes who do not comply with the International Athletes definition). The process is the same as mentioned below.

Therefore, any athlete wishing to use the process below is requested to make prior contact with the persons/department responsible for anti-doping matters within their Member Associations.

How to proceed

A TUE has to be submitted 30 days before the next competition, and in any case before the taking of a prohibited substance. The TUE Panel has another 30 days to approve, ask for more information, or reject the TUE. In the case of a TUE application made in a reasonable time limit prior to an event, the TUE Panel will use its best endeavors to complete the TUE process before the start of the event. However, if the application is made outside the deadline of 30 days before the next event, it cannot be guaranteed that the application will be approved or rejected in time for the event. This puts the athlete at risk for a positive result and the implications which follow.

An application for a TUE will not be considered for retroactive approval except in cases where:

a. Emergency treatment or treatment of an acute medical condition was necessary.

b. Due to exceptional circumstances, there was insufficient time or opportunity for an applicant to submit, or a TUEC to consider, an application prior to Doping Control.

The prohibited substance(s)/medications can be taken once the TUE has been approved. No prohibited substance should enter an athlete’s body before having the applicable authorisation to do so (TUE).

There are situations where the 30 days deadline cannot be respected. In this case, do not hesitate to contact the WTF Anti-Doping Administrator and explain the situation, so the process can be speeded up. However, please note this is only for special and exceptional circumstances.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact.
